HIDE Focus Group on Embedded Technology Maastricht, Netherland Embedded technologies are technologies encapsulated by the device they control. The difficulty in distinguishing technology elements is a key factor to being classified as embedded. Embedded technologies may seem science fictional but are already an everyday reality. For now this vast network of sensors and communications devices is used almost exclusively for traffic management, safety, and emergency response. However, there are some potentially significant applications for security, crime prevention and antiterrorism. This is a reason for serious ethical concern - March 25th - 26th 2010
